Unfortunately, as a lot of things are translated from varying languages (in this case Japanese), the meaning can be seriously garbled. Sometimes, however, this proves quite amusing. This is one such case. The above quote is from an anime called Angel Cop (correct me if I'm wrong..) wherein this line is used. In said anime, there is a point where two bad guys grab some guy to use as a hostage and stick a gun to his head. "Don't move, or this guy's gonna be french toast!" They could be heard to shout. Amusing, since obviously the correct words to use there would have been 'Swiss Cheese'. Because, I mean, when you shoot someone full of holes, they don't become French Toast! Well, I can see the expression "Burnt Toast!" being used, but what's with the french toast part?! For anyone truly ignorant, french toast is just basically toast with an egg on top. So really, the line doesn't make sense, and that's why I find it funny.
Many woes can be found in translation, with either misplaced words or horribly changed meanings. I still prefer the way they did it with the old Godzilla movies though, with the dubbing and all. The mouths are moving before the words are even spoken. Now THAT's quality entertainment.
