I'm not asking you to use this as a quote!
I just want you to think about the idea!

Yeah! WOO! I'm really pumped up about doing this quote. Hopefully by the time you finish reading this, you'll feel the same way. Although in truth, I doubt I'm nearly as good at hyping up a crowd as Javed Syed, the subject of this quote. You may not have heard of him, but possibly you know about some of his ideas. They range from such innovative topics as relaxology, enviromentology and probably a couple other -ologies as well. You may not know exactly what relaxology is all about. Well, neither do I. But that doesn't stop me from attempting to explain it anyway. From what I understand, Javed's theory of relaxology seems to involve locking up dispossessed farmers in relaxology centers so they can be readjusted back into society. I imagine these centers might resemble the picture above.

Now that you understand some of the ideas, perhaps you can understand why they didn't catch on with the voters when Javed presented them as his political platform during his two bids for mayor. Yeah, he ran twice. The first time, he tried to take the whole thing seriously. Obviously, it didn't work out for him. So the second time, he took a much more relaxed approach to politics. It also didn't work out, but it made him into a crowd favorite regardless. At most of the mayoral forums, he received by far the most applause. Furthermore, he played to the crowd with each and every statement. When presented with any question, about the state of policing for instance, he would respond by pumping up the crowd with random shouts of 'WOO!' and waving his arms in the air. Shortly before the election itself, the newspaper asked each candidate why they would ask people to vote for them. Javed responded that he wasn't asking people to vote him! He just wanted them to think about the ideas! That might be the best campaign slogan I've ever heard.

So let's think about this idea. I think it could be applied in many other fields as well, and to great effect. Imagine if only the Hollywood executives had thought more about the idea of making Stealth before they'd actually gotten around to filming it. Perhaps then, we could have averted this cinematic catastrophe. This would have saved a lot of frustration, so it sort of ties in with the relaxology idea as well.

This isn't the first time I've covered municpal politicians here on this site. I also took a few moments back in the day to comment on this guy, who mistakenly believed his main mandate was to enforce a dress code on anyone who wanted to visit the mayor. Of course, the fact that he also owns a menswear store is entirely coincidental. There was also the guy who wanted to fix the sidewalks. If you're gonna be a one-issue candidate, I'm not sure picking something like sidewalks is really the way to go. Yeah, he was setting his sights pretty low. But I guess in some ways it's good to tackle problems that can actually be solved. Ambition in political leaders might not actually be the most desirable quality; if George W. Bush had been busy with the sidewalks of the nation, I doubt he would have gone to war with Iraq. Maybe he would have just thought about the idea of it instead.
