Naturally, I'm now going to take this paragraph to promote the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon, because it's such a great show. First of all, you should know that it's totally a very unsubtle tribute to Jackie Chan. Basically, it features him doing incredible things in every episode which not even he could do in real life. Furthermore, it doesn't even try to explain some of the plot. Almost every episode starts with Jackie in some ancient hidden
jungle/cave/train/temple where he finds a talisman and invariably gets attacked by ninjas. They don't bother explaining how he found where the talisman was located; irrelevant so long as he pulls lots of stunts and fights lots of nameless ninjas. A great show indeed.WHACK! This quote may seem harmless enough, but infact, it foretells CERTAIN DANGER. According to a soon-to-be-identified source, ancient Chinese uncles (who are also martial-arts masters, of course) often use this phrase before either giving you work to do ("One more thing...You forgot to sweep the floor!") or before hitting you ("One more thing...WHACK!"). Also, this is used for less harmfull but still generally annoying purposes, such as "One more thing...where's the bathroom in this place?" You're probably wondering where I'm getting all this babble from, but they are all lines that are actually used in the Jackie Chan Adventures Cartoon by Jackie's Uncle, who continually whacks Jackie if he doesn't do what he's supposed to. The best occurence of this line was, I'm told, in the first episode of the series when the Uncle was talking to Jackie, and just slipped in as an afterthought: "One more thing...Your niece will be staying with you for one year." Jackie's reaction was naturally, "Okay.....WHAT?!" although it could've been just as easily, "I have a niece?!" In any case, Jackie goes on to ask, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" to which Uncle replied, "We did not want to bother you." Indeed.
