What does this mean? I'm not quite sure myself. When Wang refers to Eddie only as 'The new matre'D', Eddie looks both shocked and offended, before declaring that he's a 'whole lot more'. I guess this is supposed to mean that he also knows the entire plot of the movie, and reveals it to the main characters in two seconds flat. It could also be referring to Eddie's incredible combat skills. He's just supposed to be some low-rent host, but in fact he's pretty tough. The Eddie school of fighting pretty much involves cowering and hiding your head behind your hands. However, this is only a deception. As soon as the camera is pointing the other way, Eddie must strike back with incredible force, 'cause as soon as the camera cuts back to him, his opponent lies beaten at his feet. He often KOs people before his martial-arts master boss. Only a matre'D? No, a whole lot more.
This quote comes from Eddie, one of the most admittedly underappeciated characters ever. He hails from Big Trouble in Little China, a hillarious movie which is far funnier than it intends to be. This movie's plot can be summed up rather quickly, much like it is in the film. Basically, the heroes must sneak into the evil Wing Kong's fortress - twice - to rescue some girl that they kidnapped. This girl is going to be used for, you guessed it, an evil ceremony to resurrect the anciently useless sorceror, Lo Pahn. Who is much more powerful dead, by the way. But according to the movie, once Lo Pahn is resurrected, there will be BIG TROUBLE, in LITTLE CHINA. Wang is one of the heroes against Lo Pahn. He also owns a small restaurant in China Town, which no one visits except for his own personal friends. As he would say, Eddie is his new Matre'D - And a whole lot more!
This is one of his opponents. He may look like a pushover, being a guy blinded by his hat, electrocuted, and such. But actually, he's controlling that lightning and can see right through that hat. Far more dangerous than Lo Pahn, who, when resurrected, gains the ability to make snide comments and throw a knife. Badly.
This is another one of Eddie's opponents, known only as a Lord Of Death. I think the name 'Paper Eyes' is far more appropriate. I mean, what's with those glasses? Can he even see? And I'd hate to see what would happen to his precious glasses if he was ever out in the rain.
