Important Characters

Space...The final frontier.

List of Important NPCs

This will be a constantly growing list of important characters which the party has met. I will try to keep it as current as possible throughout the campaign.

Jamal
Race: Lorician
Occupation: Security
Jamal is a big, fat man with an endless supply of messy donuts in his pockets. His official rank aboard the station is Security, although his effectiveness in this role remains in doubt. Jamal wears a huge blue bunnyhug, a massive orange hat and baggy jeans. Before enlisting in the Deksiilan military, he was a rapper. His reason for abandoning the music industry remains unknown, but his rapping can indeed have a devastating effect in battle. (Usually by causing his opponents to hit him...hard.)

Vice-Admiral Flanedra
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: I believe that's quite obvious.
Flanedra is a famous officer in the Deksiilan Space Fleet who successfully dealt with a Spheran conspiracy a few years ago. His reputation states that he is a very able officer, notoriously free with his budget, who greatly appreciates spectacular chairs. Flanedra has long, blond hair and wears a red Admiral's uniform and barret. He is the commanding officer of the Space Station Epsilon.

Daikon-7
Race: Electran
Occupation: Owner of the Daikon Corporation
Daikon-7 is the owner of the powerful Daikon corporation, which also sponsors the Epsilon Station. Although this arrangement is somewhat unusual, Daikon-7 has explained that the station guards several critical trade routes between Sphere and Electra which his corporation requires to maintain its profits. He is a man with dark hair, a small mustache and an eyepatch. His only other main characteristic seems to be a desire to meet someone called 'Birdman'.

The Pointy-Haired Boss (PHB)
Race: Manager
Occupation: Manager
If you've ever read Dilbert comics, then you know all about the Pointy-Haired Boss. The PHB is thus named because he has pointy black hair and is basically useless. In this case, the heroes had to try to get his attention and convince him to hand out the boarding passes. This was no easy task, as the PHB is a master of the infamous random acts of management. When confronted with this sort of work, he would often hide, attempt to escape (by leaping out his window, which has already been smashed in previous escape attempts), feign death and downsize his visitors. After tipping his desk, grabbing him and fixing him with hypnotizing glares, the PCs finally managed to obtain their passes.

Professor Winfried Grassmann
Race: Tortalian
Occupation: Computer Scientist
Winfried Grassmann was a short, kindly old man with thin hair who always wore brown sweaters. He was called to the Epsilon Station to fix the computer system, which apparently do not make good use of deterministic procedures and boolean logic. Grassmann has also designed the baggage sorting systems for several important space ports. In battle, his teaching skills allow him to use his dismayed condescension ('Oh my!') to make his enemies feel sheepish and foolish. He also has the ability to be really confused.

Eleanor Roosevelt
Race: Consumate
Occupation: Inspector for the IFIA
Eleanor was a strongly opinioned woman who worked for the IFIA. This is an abbreviation for the Intergalactic Food Inspection Agency. Her reasons for coming to the station are unknown, but she did complain a great deal about the quality of food served on the flight. She had blond hair and wore a fur cape. In combat, she hid in the cockpit.

Senior Nabob
Race: Chalchakian
Occupation: Coffee Baron
Senior Nabob wore a coffee-brown suit, a panama hat and had a greasy black mustache. His food of choice seemed to be the supply of coffee beans he carried with him. As well as those beans, he also carried a small gun which he later put to good use. He was coming to the station to negotiate a deal with Bennigan's, the only restaurant on Epsilon. He planned to convince its owner to serve only Nabob coffee, and thus he could obtain a monopoly on this tiny market.

Captain Clarence Over
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Pilot for Deksiil Airlines
Although Captain Over appeared at first glance to be a competent pilot, due to his silvery hair and professional uniform, this was not actually the case. That's because Over usually got food poisoning before any flight began, and was usually forced to stay grounded. Other than that, his main characteristic seemed to be his uncontrollable urge to ask irrelevant questions, usually about gladiator movies.

Captain Crunch
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Pirate Captain, Cereal Marketer
Everyone should know what Captain Crunch looks like. Short, old and clad in a resplendent blue captain's uniform, Crunch was also armed with a long sword. He also had a blue captain's hat with a big 'C' on it. His reasons for hijacking the flight are obvious, but the purpose of his presence in this normally peaceful area of space is not. With his catchphrases and endless enthusiasm, he proved to be a formidable challenge for the heroes.

Shaimus
Race: Unknown.
Occupation: Mechanic and Chief Engineer
An old saying states that you should always 'Beware of men named Shaimus!' If the suspicions directed at Shaimus are founded, then this statement would be proven more than valid. Shaimus appears to be a big, muscled Irish fellow with short, red hair who always wears greasy grey coveralls. Although he has yet to do anything underhanded, he does act mean and short-tempered around almost everyone. Furthermore, he has been seen hanging about many times and simply acting suspicious. But one thing you should always remember is that you can never escape from Shaimus.

Commander Zaya
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Station Commander
Despite being a Station Commander, Zaya is actually an extremely young woman. She has long dark hair streaked with red and always wears a red Star Trek uniform. A phaser is usually holstered at her side. Cold and calm, Zaya has a reputation for weathering pressure and strain extremely well. She was only recently transferred to Space Station Epsilon after several other successful assignments. Her orders come directly from Vice-Admiral Flanedra, who also happens to have a much better chair than she. In fact, Mr. Rhyze has often commented on the low quality of her captain's chair.

Jean-Luc Picard
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Number 2
Jean-Luc Picard is the second in command aboard the station, and assumes full command when Zaya is absent or indisposed. Most people should already know the details of his appearance. Picard is a tall man who is almost completely bald. He wears his red Star Trek jumpsuit with even some amount of dignity. Picard is also known to be serious, sometimes to a fault, and has rarely been seen smiling at any point. His only other major characteristic is his vehement hatred of Captain Kirk and anything associated with the crew of the original Enterprise.

Sam
Race: Armorian
Occupation: Station Medical Officer
Considering the general lack of originality in terms of characters, the PCs were expecting the doctor to be Bones. Instead, it was Sam, the guy from 'Quincy'. Sam is a tall man with clean-cut blond hair and white lab coat. He also wears loafers and carries a syringe. He seems constantly ready to help anyone who comes by, and has often commented on how much more he enjoys treating live patients, as opposed to dead ones. Although his methods sometimes seem a bit strange, they are always effective in restoring wounded patients to full health. Although he has never really been seen in action, Sam has often urged the heroes to call upon him if they are ever in trouble. And he also knows when the coffee's ready.

Vance
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Science Officer
The heroes first met Vance while touring the computer labs. He has slicked back black hair, and always wears professional black suits and a bright red tie. He is also constantly wearing black gloves. Vance is the Science Officer aboard Epsilon, and is known for his cutting-edge research in a number of fields. He has also read several books by Winfried Grassmann, although he found a few of them to be a bit lacking in content, especially considering the price. While talking to him about litterers, Rei has heard him spreading rumours about Commander Zaya. His purpose for doing this remains unknown.

Blank
Race: Fenixan
Occupation: Chief of Security
Blank is the chief of security on the Station, and commands a horde of useless Red Shirts and Jamal. Hardly a force to be reckoned with, and Blank often complains about it. He is a solidly built fellow with spiky red hair, a white shirt and beige pants. The main thing people notice about his appearance is his reflective black visor that he wears around his eyes. Blank carries a large sabre at his side, although he has yet to demonstrate its use. Due to the incompetence of his department, he is often forced to do most of the important tasks himself. His Red Shirts injure themselves frequently on even the most mundane tasks, which does give Sam something to do up in sick bay.

Falco Lombardo
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Chief Pilot
Falco is an ace pilot who commands the space fighters stationed at Epsilon. He wears a blue flight suit, trenchcoat and has windswept blue hair. Cocky and competitive, Falco is always eager to prove his skills over anyone, including his own wingmen. He feels most at ease when behind the controls of a swift space fighter. Although Falco originally viewed Morton as little more than a washed-up pirate, he has subsequently come to respect the latter's skills, which have been demonstrated in both the flight simulator and in actual space combat. He doesn't seem to have much use for anyone who can't operate a space ship.

Lucky
Race: Denchulli
Occupation: The Owner of Bennigan's
Lucky is the owner of the Irish pub Bennigan's, and a master chef of Irish cuisine. Of course, he still doesn't know what Irish cooking is. But he thinks it involves potatos in some way. Lucky looks a lot like a leprachaun. He is a short man with fuzzy green hair and a huge green beard. He always wears a green suit and a green top-hat with a clover attached to the front. He is constantly being chased by people, usually because they want his Lucky Charms.

Jabba the Hut
Race: Spheran
Occupation: Captain of a Trading Vessel
Unlike the Jabba of Star Wars fame, this Jabba did actually look human. He was still huge though. Jabba was a bald man with thick black mustaches and huge, glassy eyes. He wore oversized white clothing and a black vest. There were two things that people would notice about him very quickly. The first was that he was about as big as four normal people, and could barely walk on his own. The second was that he did not seem to speak the Galactic tongue, but rather some garbled language of his own which involved a great deal of chuckling and the word 'Solo' repeated every so often. Jabba's other quirks were his appreciation of exotic animals and his habit of eating live frogs. In combat, Jabba could deal some major damage with his autoblaster. Like any real gangster, Jabba was most deadly when blasting a barrage of bullets at his enemies.

Grant Cheston
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Computer Science Professor
Grant Cheston is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Deksiil. He was called to the station by Winfried Grassmann to help him fix Epsilon's computer systems. Cheston has a brown hair in a bowl cut, wears glasses, a red polo shirt and khaki pants. In short, he fits the part of a computer scientist. Grassmann intended to leave the rest to him. Grant Cheston has two other major characteristics. The first is the way his voice can often become high-pitched and squeeky for no real reason. The second is his preferance for the Eiffel programming language over all others. In fact, he has been known to grow furious at the mere mention of any other programming language.

The Warden
Race: Spheran
Occupation: Prison Warden, as his 'name' implies.
The Warden is famous for his skills at watching and guiding prisoners through various forms of work rehabilitation. He is known to have kept many model prisoners, including the recently recaptured Morto the Marauder. He is an expert at law enforcement, and believes all prisoners should be at work in either the prison library, or preferably the metal shop. Of course, The Warden often turns a blind eye towards what these criminals actually create with their welding. He looks a great deal like one of those old, traditional police officers. The warden wears blue clothing, a blue police hat, a black tie and carries a billy club. He came to Epsilon Station at Blank's request to pick up the over-abundance of prisoners that were occupying the Brig. This dangerous bunch included Captain Crunch, Jabba the Hut and many of Jabba's annonymous goons. The Warden is sure to turn these ne'erdowells into model prisoners in no time.

Manolo
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Acquisitions Officer
Manolo didn't look like a regular technician, and in fact had only contempt for those 'engineers'. He wore a blue suit with a red tie, and had slick brown hair and a goatie. Manolo also had a marketing degree, which he would often talk about. This marketing degree apparently made him an expert of any topic. He was placed in charge of obtaining equipment for the Shore-Leave to Starbase. Apparently, his marketing skill made him capable of obtaining all the necessary supplies at cheap prices. Manolo argued against Morton's inclusion on the team, because the pilot wasn't qualified to make the kind of acquisitions choices which they would surely face. Only a marketing degree could prepare you for those kind of things. To understand Manolo, you need only see the marketing department featured in Dilbert comic strip.

Mallistayre the Red
Race: Loracian
Occupation: Mercenary Space Pilot
Mallistayre the Red is a fairly infamous Space Pilot who is willing to work for anyone who will pay his salary. At the moment, he is under the employ of Jabba the Hut. He led the attack force that tried to hijack the Hut's prison vessel. Mallistayre is a large man with dark skin, a shaved head and a red circular tattoo on his cheek. He is known to always wear small sunglasses when he flies and a black leather jacket. His preferred ship is a Heatwave, and he handles it well. In particular, he seems very adept at avoiding missiles. He has little respect for lawful authorities, and even less for novice pilots. A professional, Mallistayre will do whatever it takes to get his jobs done. He escaped into deep space after his gangster wingmen were defeated by the PCs and Falco Lombardo.

Mr. Rithos
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Coach of the Deksiil Crescent Moons.
A former Blitzball player himself, Mr. Rithos played on the Deksiilan team back when its roster still included the famous Jecht. After his friend left the team, Mr. Rithos decided to become a coach, and use his Blitzball knowledge to lead the Crescent Moons to more victories. Indeed, his work has led the Deksiilan team to win the Galactic Cup on several occaisons. A well-dressed man, Mr. Rithos usually wears an immaculately tailored blue suit with an official Blitzball tie. His blond hair is pulled back in a ponytail, and his eyes are covered by blue-tinted sunglasses. Friendly and resourceful, he can most often be found jotting down strategy notes on his ever-present clipboard.

Graav
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Captain of the Deksiil Crescent Moons
Graav is the stable core of the Deksiil Blitzball team. A fair and honorable player, he has more experience than any other member of his team. Graav is a strongly built man with brown hair in a bowl cut who wears gold and blue Zelzakian armor, even while underwater. This armor is perhaps one of the factors which contributes to his high endurance. Graav can often take the heaviest blows his opponents have to offer without even a flinch.

Dyela
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Defense of the Deksiil Crescent Moons
Although she is small in stature, Dyela can pack a very significant punch. As the key defense player for the Deksiilan Blitzball team, it is her job to get the ball away from opposing players. This often means tackling them, something she has become very good at. Dyela has long brown hair, streaked with green, and wears gold and blue clothing along with strap armor of the same color. She generally appears to have a sense of humour, and never takes the game too seriously. She was quite impressed by the hitting power demonstrated by Morton Ragnarson upon the unsuspecting Mr. Rhyze.

Tyrus
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: The Top Scorer on the Deksiil Crescent Moons
Tyrus certainly considers himself the star player on the team, although others might disagree. He is a known ball-hog who never passes but always goes for the shots. And according to his own words, always scores too. Tyrus has dyed blond hair, a major attitude, and wears a yellow t-shirt and blue pants. He also has a metal gauntlet strapped to his left wrist. Mr. Rhyze has found that Tyrus' philosophy on Blitzball to be decidedly similar to his own.

Jecht
Race: Zelzakian
Occupation: Legendary Blitzball player and wanderer.
Everyone who knows anything about Blitzball has seen the status of Jecht spread about the galaxy. A tall, powerfully built man with long, messy brown hair held back by a red headband. He never wears a shirt, and his red pants are assymetrical, with one leg longer than the other. His only other clothing consists of the pair of steel bracers he wears over his wrists. This blunt and caustic wanderer was once the most famous Blitzball player in the galaxy. He led the Deksiil Crescent Moons to many great victories, and his Sublime Jecht Shot Mark Three has yet to be performed by any other player, and not from lack of trying. Jecht quit playing Blitzball some years back for reasons unknown, and has since disappeared from the public spotlight. He seemed to see something interesting in Mr. Rhyze, and taught him the Sphere Shot. Or maybe he was just bored.

Rayde
Race: Fenixan
Occupation: Team Captain of the Fenixa Infernos
Rayde is the obnoxious and arrogant captain of the Fenixa Blitzball team. His first actions in the campaign involved taunting the Deksiilan team with various rude gestures. Even while underwater, he wears his trademark black leather jacket. Rayde also sports a red bandanna and a pair of dark shades. He is known to have a very powerful shot, and also possesses a flaming fist techniques which make his tackles very potent. However, like most Fenixans, his endurance is quite low and he can be knocked down fairly easily. In combat, Rayde can be seen wielding an Official Blitzball. These uncommon weapons are surprisingly accurate.

Tortilla
Race: Fenixan
Occupation: Scoring Sensation on the Fenixa Infernos
Tortilla is a Fenixan woman whose personality is as fiery as her blazing red hair. She has mastered the rare Pheonix shot, which has made her a very high-scoring player on the Fenixa Infernos. She is also extremely fast, and swims through the water with a speed that the deserts of Fenixa have likely never before seen. She wears tight red and black leather, and high-heeled boots. In battle, this hot-headed woman wields a powerful PK-97, which is often technically illegal on the planets where she makes use of it.

Flavius
Race: Fenixan
Occupation: Player on the Fenixa Infernos
Flavius' reputation refers to him as the 'Unmovable Wall of Muscle.' This is in referance to his incredible size and endurance. Flavius could be considered quite huge for a Fenixan. He has spiky black hair, and wears black martial-arts pants. In keeping with his repuatation, he wears no shirt to show off his very well-muscled chest. Generally silent, Flavius serves his team by attempting to block any approaching players with his considerable size. In combat, this grim Fenixan uses a massive Great Scimitar to often devastating effect. Morton immiediately pegged him as the man to watch on the Fenixan team.

The Man in the Black Trenchcoat
Race: ??
Occupation: ? Travelling Ice-Cream Salesman, perhaps?
This mysterious figure was spotted briefly by Morton. He was watching the encounter with the Fenixa Infernos. Nothing else is known about him. He disappeared from sight moments after noticing Morton's gaze. His only distinct characteristic was the long, black trenchcoat he was wearing at the time.

Captain Ataris
Race: Spheran
Occupation: Captain in the Spheran Military
Ataris has the look of a professional soldier. His face is hardened and creased, and his dark hair is closely cropped. He wears the traditional grey Spheran military uniform. He is also one of the commanding officers of the Red Wings, a famous squad in the Spheran space fleet. He is apparently in charge of the Spheran forces stationed near Sector Y. He came for an unannounced visit to Epsilon to speak privately to Commander Zaya about 'jurisdictional issues'. And unlike members of the Deksiilan starfleet, Ataris actually knows how to salute!

Johnny 'The Man'
Race: Tortalian
Occupation: The Man...and a pilot
Aside from himself, Johnny had only two real interests: women and ships. He would often try to combine the two by getting women to 'check out' his customised ships. A skilled mechanic, he had made many improvements on his favorite custom Falcon, which made it very much faster than any normal ship of its type. The Man liked to prove this by racing any decent pilots he could come across. He had short blond hair, and wore a flashy purple jacket. Anyone who has played Chrono Trigger could probably figure out his theme music. Johnny The Man challenged Morton to a race, and will likely challenge him to many more, if the game is any indication.

Professor Soliantis
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Biology Researcher
Soliantis was a professor from the University of Deksiil. His area of expertise was ancient species of animals which had gone extinct thousands of years ago. He came to Space Station Epsilon to investigate rumours that the custodian possessed such a creature. Soliantis wanted to do research on this Squirrtle, and discover how a supposedly extinct species could be reborn anew. Soliantis had white hair and a bushy beard. He customarily wore a white labcoat. His knowledge of monsters is considered very highly by the Intergalactic science community.

Commander Vydin
Race: Electran
Occupation: Commander of the Steel Star Research Station
A soft-spoken man who always seems to know far more than he is willing to tell. Vydin wore a burnished blue and gold Electran uniform and a blue beret. (For those who doubt, it is permissable for someone to wear this color beret even when one is not a member of the famed Blue Berets. In fact, many members of that Deksiilan Commando group don't even wear berets.) The most noticeable facet of Vydin's appearance were the dark circles under his eyes. He maintains cordial, if distant, relations with Space Station Epsilon.

Corporal Rikker
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Corporal on Space Station Epsilon
If you've seen Star Trek: The Next Generation, then you already know a great deal about this character. Rikker had brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard, and wore a red Starfleet uniform. He looked like he might be in better shape than Jean-Luc Picard. He was also found to be a star on the trombone. Impulsive, and sometimes a bit rash, Rikker was more a man of action. In combat, he could dispense a mean hook-punch, and had some skill in the psychic arts.

Instant
Race: Chalchakian
Occupation: Coffee Baron
This character is added only due to his awesome name. A coffee baron sent to Epsilon to kidnap Senor Nabob. He carried two D6 miniguns, and could fire them in an 'instant.'

Cappuchino
Race: Electran
Occupation: Coffee Baron
Another hitman sent with Instant. He had frothy white hair and a white suit. In battle, he wielded psychic energies to no great effect. In fact, Mr. Rhyze called him a disgrace to Psi-Xaquel.

Fayde
Race: Electran
Occupation: Electran Officer
Fayde came to station as an envoy from the Electran envoy, although he certainly appears odd for an Electran officer. Then again, considering such persons as Faust and the one-eyed Morton, perhaps his appearance should not be considered so strange. A tall man, with short blond hair, Fayde wears a long black cape, a white shirt and black army pants. His most distinctive feature would have to be his striking amber eyes. His stated purpose is to relay information between the two stations, and ease co-operation between Electran and Deksiilan forces.

Alex Trebek
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Gameshow Host
A famous man, known for his incredible intellectual capacity and his hosting of Jeopardy, a popular Television gameshow. Alex Trebek always looked very dignified, with grey hair, mustache and a well-tailored suit. He also wore glasses, which aren't really necessary for anyone in the galaxy of Spherus, but they did make him look more dignified. Recent news spoke of his feud with the Sean Connery, the famous actor. In fact, Sean's last appearance on the show had resulted in something of a scandal, which smeared the reputation of the prickly Trebek. His other main characteristic was his uncontrollable urge to make people phrase answers as questions.

Dennis Rodman
Race: Deksiilan
Occupation: Technician/Litterer
Rei's nemesis turned out to be an ex-basketball player with a penchant for littering, and breaking plexi-glass backboards. Dennis Rodman wore a red Basketball jersey and shorts, as well as huge Nike Air shoes. When pumped, these shoes could allow him to run at incredible speeds, while leaving black marks at the same time. Rodman's hair seemed to change color faster than a normal man could run, and his flame color would always match the shade of his hair.
