Neji – Beat Cop's Report 30
Recent Duties: Four days have passed since the dramatic defeat of the Shadowcult, and the city of Cormus is still recovering from their destructive legacy. Once again, it fell to the warriors of faith to stand as the people's last line of defense. There is no doubt in your mind that the Shadow would not have been defeated without the valor displayed by you and Inspector Valtyrez, and by extension, the Gods themselves. The best thanks you could receive would be acknowledgement of this fact, but you'll have to settle with your pay cheque instead.
-Beat Cop (Level 3) Paycheque: 800 Marks.
Tidings from the Campaign Trail: (News regarding Cormus' election.)
-This election campaign will certainly go down in the annals of history as one of the most dramatic and unpredictable. Even the conclusion of the campaign was transformed into a storm of controvery by the assassination of Mayor Andrew Shuba, who now stands with the record for shortest tenure in office. Many city officials also perished in the incident, and those who remain are already planning a new election campaign. Until this can be organized, Mycroft Holmes has accepted the position of interim mayor. He has vowed to repair the damage inflicted by Sarpedon's minions, all the while implementing the madate he believes to have received from the public. The de facto acclamation of Holmes marks a shocking climax to this most tumultuous of campaigns.
Divine Rumblings:
-The defeat of Scaevoli and his blasphemous followers seems to have dissipated the dark cloud that has hung over this city since your arrival – at least for now. Yet the position of the righteous is more tenuous than ever, given the damage inflicted to the central Church of Cormus. Cardinal Callistus was uninjured in the incident, but many of the faithful lost their lives. Now, more than ever, the people need to rely on their faith, and the Church must be ready to guide them. As such, it is nothing less than your duty to help restore the Church to its former glory.
Personal Notes:
-The defeat of the Shadow did not come without a cost. Even your vigilance was not enough to save Mayor Andrew Shuba from the treachery lurking within the police department. After all the campaigning you had done in his name, you were quite devastated by his untimely demise. It is always tragic when a person perishes before their time, but especially so when they still had so many good ideas yet to be implemented. Instead, the way to his demise was paved far too soon. One thing is certain; you intend to be sure that the sidewalk to Andrew Shuba's grave is always kept in good repair. It's what he would have wanted.
Team I.Q. (2-0) vs 7-11 Closers (0-2) – Team I.Q.
The Bad Dudes (1-1) vs Raging Butterflies (1-1) – The Raging Butterflies.
The Red Pill (0-2) vs Point Blank RIFLES (2-0) – Point Blank Rifles.
Divine Dodgers (1-1) vs The Bloody Wrenches (1-1)–The Divine Dodgers.
Mini-Objective:
-Make sure there is appropriate mourning over Andrew Shuba's untimely demise.
-Assist in the reconstruction of the Church of Cormus.
Wheatie – Legal Assistant's Report 31
Recent Duties: The election was four days ago, and you're still recovering from all the excitement, not to mention the pain. It seems like your preferred candidate will be the one assuming the Mayor's seat, though not in the way you were hoping. You wouldn't wish that fate on anyone, especially after experiencing the sting of Miss Vayl's tazer. You also received your most recent pay cheque, though it doesn't seem to have taken account your most recent and sudden promotion.
-Legal Assistant (Level 3) Paycheque: 900 Marks.

Legal
Report:
-Scaevoli didn't survive to suffer the legal
consequences of his action, but both Miss Vayl and the Mouth of
Sarpedon were arrested at the scene. Mostly thanks to the Harvester,
yeah! You believe the former was trying to negotiate some sort of
plea bargain, but you haven't heard anything further since she was
sent to Guantanimo prison.
-With Miss Vayl behind bars, it seems likely that your job description might expand to include some of the duties normally performed by a DA. In order to accomodate this increased responsibility, you're definitely going to need a bigger workspace. Your desk just isn't big enough for your new title. Also, your filing cabinets will need to have way more drawers so that you can categorize all sorts of neat papers using those cool plastic dividers. Also, it would be great if your desk had a slot to store your giant yellow ruler. It's totally essential for all sorts of legal work.
Notes from Home:
-When you told your parents about the nature of your new responsibilities and the size of desk that would be necessary to accomodate them, they immediately suggested that you invest in some tools so you could do the work yourself. They even looked up some deals on power tools in the most recent Canadian Tire catalogue. Of course, you've never been much of a handyman, and have no intention of doing this work yourself. That's one of the reasons you went to University instead of trade school. Anyway, you've heard that a new Canadian Tire just opened in Precinct 13, so maybe you'd be able to find some capable people over there.
Personal Notes:
-Nicholas Chesterly seems really depressed and devastated by the betrayel of Miss Vayl. He really looked up to her as something of a mentor, so you can sort of understand what he's going through. You had to deal with similar feelings of confusion after the murder of the Academy's Samuel de Champlain. Fortunately, Chins was there to provide you with the guidance you needed. This time, you'll be playing the part of the mentor, and you intend to ensure that Nicholas receives all the support he needs. Besides, you'll be a much healthier influence than Miss Vayl. She turned out to be a really bad seed, just the sort to grow discord within the fertile ranks of the police force.
Mini-Objective:
-Reassure Nicholas Chesterly regarding the future of the city.
-Arrange for the expansion of your work area.
John Watson – Crime Doctor 26
Recent Duties: The election was four days ago, and you have scarcely been able to relax since. Not only did you not receive credit for foiling the plot of Sarpedon's dodgy followers, but you also found yourself watching in horror as Mycroft Holmes ascended to the mayor's seat. It was bad enough that you had to look upon the countenance of your hated rival on every one of Mycroft's election posters, but now you'll once again find your fate tied with a member of the Holmes family. This is the true tragedy of recent days, and it has left you devastated.

Newspaper Headlines:
-Scaevoli's sudden absence made its way onto the front page of the Daily Planet, albeit only indirectly. The top story on the attack of the Shadowcult is written by Eddie Brock, who is has apparently been promoted to become the paper's new crime columnist. Brock's story makes no mention of his former colleague's treachery, and instead focuses on the betrayels within the police department. Such editorializing is nothing new coming from the press of J. Jonah Jamieson. You're almost surprised that he didn't ascribe the whole thing to the work of superheroes, vigilantes or other so-called 'meddlers'.
Mysteries:
-The name of Rezane sounded vaguely familiar to your finely tuned mind, so you decided to diagnose its source. Conversations with Mrs. Hudson subsequently revealed that he was one of the criminals Sarpedon sent to assassinate the Deksiilan President thirty years ago. Rezane was one of very few who were captured alive when the plan was foiled by Kojak, and he was the only one who agreed to testify against his dark master. Old papers indicate that he was murdered while waiting to indict Sarpedon, despite the fact he was registered in the police's witness protection program. There was considerable bafflement at the time as to how this could occur, but in hindsight you find it only too elementary.
Personal Notes:
-This whole dodgeball thing has gone a bit too far. Sure, you're as much of a sportsman as the average Britisher, but you just can't stand the example this sport is setting. Why just this morning, Wiggins managed to smash one of the windows of your flat while emulating your most recent dodgeball game. Mrs. Hudson won't even allow young Wiggins into the builduing until you get the thing fixed. After this incident, you certainly don't intend to be bringing any young rascals to watch your league games.
Mini-Objective:
-Make sure everyone is aware that Mycroft's ascendancy to the mayor's position is the true tragedy of recent days.
-See to it that the window of your flat is fixed properly.
Saavik – Forensic Investigator 8
Recent Duties: It has been four days since you participated in the arrest of the Shadowcult. This incident demonstrated yet again that even the police are not immune from corruption, mostly because they still allow their emotions to rule them. It also showcased the weakness of this democratic system. Surely a stable government cannot be formed when the will of the people, illogical though it may be, can so easily be devastated.
Regardless, you are not being paid to debate political ideologies. But you are being paid, and your first cheque arrived this morning.
-Forensic Investigator (Level 1) Paycheque: 800 Marks.

Tech Report:
-It has been a long time since an email message has ellicited an emotional response, but the one you received last night did just that.
From: valeris@starfleet.dk
Greetings, Saavik.
From your presence in Cormus, I can only assume you have reached the same conclusion as I. The Devastator who resides in this city is the same one we have been seeking.
Long have I searched for him, but it was only the death of Sybok that drew my attention to this area. At last, vengeance is within our reach.
I have taken a room at the Crescentia Hotel. You must come visit me at your earliest convenience. I was granted shore leave from Starfleet to pursue a personal matter.
It was no lie. Only a mistake.
But my mistake may correct the many committed by Devastator.
Live long and prosper,
-Lieutenant Valeris
Tricorder Analysis:
-Now that the security breach has been addressed, you no longer have need for administrator access to the police database. It has consequently been removed, and you have returned to your standard equipment depot duties. It is hard to believe that you could ever come to view such menial tasks as standard, but habit is a force that often defies even your logic.
Impersonal Notes:
-Controlling your emotions has grown progressively more difficult over the past week. You thought you could control the stress of losing Sybok, but it instead has left a deep gouge in the wall that holds your emotions in check. Valeris' visit may end up being the battering ram that brings the wall down. It does not take one with your intelligence to understand what she intends. What you do not know is how you will respond to these intentions.
-Perhaps it is because of your emotional reawakening, but you have come to a greater understanding of the emotional state of your colleagues. Many of them seem very depressed at the moment, and this low morale may be comprimising their performance. You have heard that atmosphere can often contribute to attitudes. It seems logical to you that the offending atmosphere must be that of Monk's coffeeshop, where officers spend much of their time. This drab and bland decor would probably be depressing to any who were inclined to that sort of emotion. As such, you have taken it as your duty to organize the redecoration of Monk's, such that it will no longer be a drain on morale.
Mini-Objective:
-Raise morale at the Precinct by redecorating Monks' coffeeshop to suit the emotions of your colleagues.
-Meet up with Valeris and hold a candid discussion with her.
Jackie - Agent's Report 20
Recent Duties: Oh, it has been four days since that ridiculous election. You suspected all along that it would end in disaster, and your hunch was dead on. That's what happens when you let the weak become the leaders. They're prone to just die, like this Andrew Shuba. A strong leader would not have fallen so easily. Unfortunately, Shuba's demise also coincided with the attack on The Chief. That evil Miss Vayl must be racist, trying to keep the black man down! The Chief is still in intensive care at the hospital, recovering from his wounds. This has left Inspector Valtyrez as the interim chief of the station. You have nothing personal against the guy, but he's as white as they come. Losing the force's best ethnic commander, even for only a little while, leaves the force really devastated. Plus, it means you won't be able to get any fried chicken.
-Agent (Level 3) Paycheque: 850 Marks.

Classified Information:
-You've heard through the pipeline that The Chief has more problems than just his health. Apparently the upper brass have found out that he was revealing classified information to unauthorized individuals. They say this is some big violation of police procedure, though you've never really understood why. Regardless, it seems unlikely that Inspector Valtyrez would be willing to do any such thing, which is just another reason to mourn the absence of The Chief.
Personal Notes:
-You've heard of this Shadowcult before, but you'd never seen them in action. Of course, you can't fault them for their religious beliefs, but you have to question the way they pursue them. In the process of attacking the downtown area, they also managed to badly damage SOLD OUT! Don't they know that Warchons are also working for the same man upstairs? And yet they still seem to be so racist! They have SOLD OUT! Mr. Tanegawa is worried that the shop will lose business to Atch & Co., which happened to escape the battle unscathed. He's asked you to help with the rebuilding, and you've readily agreed to do all you can.
-Your Yu Li, Warchon artist persona was not entirely a disguise. You are certainly always looking to forward the interests of foreign artists, particularly of the Warchon variety. Yet somehow the galaxy seems to overlook the fine martial arts produced by your people in favor of more benign pieces. At the moment, one of the more popular decorators is an enigmatic frenchman by the name of RAFUSE!, who seems to center all his work around fruits and vegetables. He seems more than a little fruity himself, in your opinion.
Mini-Objective:
-Help organize the rebuilding of SOLD OUT.
-Mourn the injuries sustained by The Chief.
A door opens on Miss Vayl. Raising her eyes, she sees the form of Inspector Vladislav of the KGB enter her cell. He does not speak even as she tries to prove that she still has worth to the police, instead he pulls out a long metal rod and begins to sinisterly twist it around in a complicated arc, causing the lawyer to cringe back into her cell. She holds the Geneva Convention as her protection to him, but he simply finishes creating a hanger, placing his coat on it, and moving towards her. The door slides ominously shut and the guards creep slightly away from it, as if they don’t want to hear what is happening within. And on that sinister note, we leave Miss Vayl in the KGB’s tender care and actually begin the adventure.
*
The PCs are gloomily sitting in Monk’s, mostly due to the horrible décor that surrounds and compresses them. Neji is trying to mourn the death of Shuba and because Saavik misread her mini-objective, the two women plan to make a mural on the sidewalk in tribute, leading to a shrine in the middle of Monk’s to the departed mayor. Isaac has decided that with the departure (literally? We aren’t yet sure) of Miss Vayl that he is going to be due for a promotion and will assume Miss Vayl’s duties. Because of this, he needs a different sort of office space and sets about creating a desk/office/filing-system-bookcase fortress…or at least he starts talking about it. Isaac and the women head off to Canadian Tire, a great new store that he heard about from his parents to get their various supplies.
And Jackie does stuff, which involves very opaque paper and a very silent GM. But this is more than normal.
Saavik, Neji, and Isaac meet Watson at Canadian Tire; the older man is flipping through a flier to try to figure out…something? It doesn’t make any sense because Watson is there to get his window fixed, apparently he’s such an amazing athlete that Wiggins was throwing rocks and Watson’s window just couldn’t dodge. But he tells us that Wiggins is a scamp and we’re going to forget that the reports were posted amazingly early this week and that hacking was had. And we’ll also forget how late the summary is.
Upon stepping into Canadian Tire the four find a man of such horror and plaid that there is no escape. It is the dreaded Ted Simonette, Canadian Tire Guy. Watson and Isaac immediately begin to bid for his services in their particular projects while Saavik and Neji got their chalk and got out. Watson gets frustrated when Isaac manages to convince CTG that he hired the ‘man’ first, but cackling ensues later on when it is revealed how much of a tool he actually is.
Back at Monk’s, Saavik and Neji make a large mural on the sidewalk and Saavik convinces the other woman that they need to have the mural as a sign for anyone who wants to remember the mayor, so that there is something inside the cafe. They have it set up so the public can come in to see the shrine that the women created inside. Isaac brings Canadian Tire guy back to the legal department, but to his dismay, CTG only attracts Kojak who drills a large hole through Isaac’s desk. Memorials for the paperwork destroyed will be held by Nicholas Chesterly and Isaac in the next session. Watson hangs around the Precinct for a while, since we all know that he has absolutely nothing better to do, and Jackie goes to see the acting chief – Valtyrez. Jackie manages to wrangle an office out of him, and sets about moving his piece of paper up there, attracting Watson’s attention. The two start talking about something.
Neji goes to the cemetery and makes more shrines, then to the church. Talking about Archon is had in the room where the rest of the PCs were told to go. Saavik also removes everyone from the room. And I can’t quite remember if Jackie does too, it’s likely, or maybe he just disappeared with the GM for a bit.
Then more hiring was had. Watson called Connie to fix his window, which apparently was amazing. Saavik spoke to the very eccentric French painter RAFUSE! to make over Monks, and consequentially the prices are now 3 times as much. Neji got Bob the Builder to redo the Church, because apparently the Church officials are too stingy to actually hire him themselves or even look in a phonebooks. And finally, after an attempt to hire the Constructicons, Jackie spoke with the City People to rebuild SOLD OUT!
Debbie then calls the PCs to Valtyrez’s office where he tells them that their mission this time is against Devastator. They now had conclusive evidence that Devastator’s Constructicons were the main force building the dome over downtown and that they had planned a bank heist for later that night. The PCs were instructed to disguise themselves so that they could slip into the area, and that police backup would be standing by.
All of them grabbed hardhats (one was provided later for Watson, who Saavik really wanted to come along) and most took reflective vests as well. Neji grabbed a jackhammer, Isaac, like everyone expected, took a stop sign, Jackie, I believe, took a shovel, and I have no recollection of what Saavik grabbed. When they got outside and impressed Watson to join them, he took the hardhat and the persona of a foreman.
They easily mingled with the good construction workers, but the further along they got the more they were surrounded by Constructicons. Finally, the mighty PCs were stopped at the tunnel which had been built into the bank. Saavik and Watson were entirely unable to sneak into the tunnel, which made them stage a confrontation. Finally, the Constructicons allowed them in. And it was just in time, because in the tunnel (with Constructicons, of course) was the massive form of Devastator.
In complete contrast to her usual aloofness, Saavik began to run forwards at the giant of a man. The other PCs managed to convince her to take out the Constructicons in the way first, and the battle was joined. Some thread of loyalty had her go back to help when Isaac was pierced in the leg with a grappling hook. The other fast one among them, Jackie had stopped one of the men with money, and Watson used the powers of Science to take out the largest chunk of the Constructicons, allowing the PCs to rush after Devastator, who had been escaping.
He had gotten into a large bulldozer and was driving at the mouth of the tunnel. Isaac grabbed Neji and started flying, while Jackie grabbed Watson and he and Saavik ran for the tunnel entrance. Neither was fast enough and both spun around back into the safety of the tunnel. It didn’t seem to actually matter as long as there were two groups because Isaac and Neji were picked up by Kojak in his Corvette, and the other three seized a large double decker bus for their use. There was much driving around Precinct 13 in a really awesome mini-game where the PCs were aided by Frozone, the Midnight Gaiden, Tairix, the Harvester, and Valtyrez. Much ramming happened with Isaac and Neji managing to stop the money from getting away and the other PCs halting Devastator’s escape.
A group of nameless police were destroyed as Devastator rose to face the PCs. Saavik’s ears were finally revealed and shouts were exchanged, and the large man swore to crush the rest of the bugs…whatever that meant. Rushing in were Saavik and Neji, but fruitlessly as Saavik was slammed through a wall for massive damage, knocking her out in that one blow. The rest of the PCs began to throw everything they had at Devastator, with Watson healing from the sidelines, but every time the large man got too injured he would retreat into his site office and heal. The first time he did, the PCs were crowded around, trying to get in (except for Jackie who had also been taken out by Devastator) and no one noticed that Saavik was no longer lying where she had been.
This was only revealed when the Gaiden showed up again, offering massive healing to all (which is why Saavik revealed herself, to take part in healing). She then joined the battle, having been miraculously recovered, and they beat down the door to the site office once again. Finally, having not enough psi points left to continue to heal, the PCs were able to bring Devastator to his knees.
Strangely, they were not alone. A woman had joined them, wearing a red Starfleet uniform and holding a phaser pointed at Devastator’s body. Most notably, she had pointed ears. The two (Saavik and the other, later mentioned as Valeris) discussed killing Devastator, and would have succeeded in their task had Watson not chosen that moment to come out of his rigor mortis and convince the Gaiden that killing Devastator was the wrong path.
This wasn’t an issue to the two women, who, as their Vulcan heritage suggested, would easily go berserk. Saavik pointed out Watson to Valeris, and before the rest of the police accused him for the murder of her brother, Sybok. With her mind in a spiral of the need of destruction, she leapt for Devastator’s prone form, guarded by Isaac and the Gaiden. Valeris began to spar with Watson.
Saavik moved to punch Isaac, looking like she was at the end of her psi points, but instead she exercised a curious mental control over him, forcing him into attacking Devastator. In one blow, however, the Gaiden took out the young legal assistant, leaving the battle slightly more fairly matched. The two women moved to concentrate on Watson, much of their force being in revenge of Saavik’s brother, but Saavik just couldn’t believe that Watson was the real threat when the Gaiden was around. She fruitlessly attacked him, soon collapsing herself. Valeris was then hit with a television, and also slumped to unconciousness.
To the eyes of Watson and Neji (who had been feigning unconciousness at 1HP), the Gaiden was then held hostage by Devastator who had risen on his second wind. He would have killed the super-hero had Tairix not appeared from behind to pin the Terrorian with one shot in the back of the head, killing him. So Saavik and Valeris finally gained their revenge upon Devastator, albeit in handcuffs, facing massive charges from an overeager legal assistant.
Note: Special thanks to Saavik for writing this summary.
Canadian Tire Guy
Race: Deksiilan
Affiliation: Canadian Tire
Canadian Tire Guy lives in his own little world, and that world is personified and centered around Canadian Tire itself. It's a hardware store with its own distinct economy, as represented by Canadian Tire money. Canadian Tire Guy fits right in there, with his carefully cut salt and pepper hair, his casual plaid shirt and his stain-resistant trousers. He's the kind of tool man who never hesitates to show off his latest gadgets, especially if they perform two tasks at once. This ranges from a hydraulic wrench/ice cream scoop to a jackhammer/stapler combination. It's unclear whether Canadian Tire Guy can actually use any of these tools, but he does seem very skilled at showing them to his beleaguered neighbours. In all, he's about the biggest tool you could find.
Bob the Builder
Race: Deksiilan
Affiliation: Construction Foreman
Bob the Builder owns the second largest construction company operating in Cormus, after the evil Constructicons. Unlike their rivals, Bob's team relies on teamwork and cooperation to get the job done. He's an unassuming man with a yellow hardhat, a bright construction vest and a set of construction vehicles that have been painted vivid, childish colors. Bob's attitude is relentlessly upbeat, and focuses on the fact that he and his teams can fix anything, especially if they first take their places. He's also an expert at working with glass, even going so far as to make whole buildings from this rare substance. How does he do it?!
Rafuse!
Race: Deksiilan
Affiliation: French Artist
Rafuse! is a smarmy french artist from Precinct 6 who also doubles as a colorful interior decorator. His style is apparently hip, edgy and somehow fruity, possibly because it involves many pictures of fruits and vegetables. But these aren't just images of normal produce. Rafuse! would refuse to use anything so pedestrian as his muse. Instead, he prefers to focus on deformed produce, which perhaps matches with the blue and yellow toxic camo colors he likes to employ when decorating ceilings. Of course, an artist of his quality can't present his work in just any sort of establishment - it must be appropriately high-priced and swishy, such as Boston Pizza.
Liutenant Valeris
Race: Vulcan
Affiliation: Starfleet
Some Vulcans may seek to hide their unique heritage, but Valeris is not among them. She proudly displays her pointed ears and eyebrows, and keeps her dark hair swept back for just such a purpose. Otherwise, Valeris can be described as a tall woman with an inscrutable countenance, perfect poise and a new age Starfleet uniform that includes a red sweater and baggy black trousers. However, her icy logical demeanor is merely a facade, barely obscuring the turbulant emotions bottled up underneath. As such, she is prone to flying off the handle and going berzerk, especially when facing Constructicons or their leader, Devastator. When berzerk, her coordination seems to go way down, resulting in reduced accuracy for her phaser or her defenses.
